The Mill creates VFX for Impossible Pictures and Sky’s 'Sinbad'
Monday, July 09, 2012
The Mill working with Impossible Pictures and Sky 1 HD have
reinvented the iconic Arabian Knights tales and brought the stories
of Sinbad in to the 21st century.
In the role of Sinbad is newcomer Elliot Knight, alongside Naveen
Andrews (Lost), Orla Brady (Mistresses. Strike Back), Sophie
Okonedo (Hotel Rwanda) and Timothy Spall (Secrets and Lies, Harry
Potter).
The 12-part series opens with Sinbad banished from his homeland of
Basra and cast out to sea on The Providence following the death of
his much-loved brother. Now Sinbad must embark on an epic quest to
rid himself of the curse placed on him by his own grandmother
(Janet Suzman), and embrace his new destiny.
Will Cohen, Mill TV and Film's Managing Director explains "If
Computer Generated Imagery is a tool for story tellers to use when
something cannot be shot in camera then Sky/Impossible Pictures new
series, 'Sinbad' provided ample opportunity for The Mill TV and
Film to collaborate with them by creating FX, environments and
creatures with an elemental tone to bring scale, scope and drama to
their exciting new fantasy series. It has been a great show to work
on bringing film quality VFX to the small screen".
The series is an Impossible Pictures production for Sky and BBC
Worldwide produced with the assistance of Nine Network
Australia. Sinbad airs on Sunday evenings at 7pm on Sky 1
HD.
