Senior 3D Generalist

The Mill NY is looking for a motivated and skilled mid-level to senior generalist, with comprehensive knowledge of either XSI or Maya.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years experience in the advertising or film industry with an in-depth understanding of modelling, texturing, and lighting.  Some animation experience would also be a bonus.

Successful candidates must have strong experience with a compositing package, preferably Nuke or Shake and an understanding of zBrush, particles and / or scripting.

We are looking for people with the ability to problem solve on one's own, while similarly able to work and / or lead a team.

Senior Nuke Compositor

We are currently looking for talented Senior Nuke Compositors for immediate start.  We require someone who is able to work both in a team and on their own in a fast paced environment. Key Responsibilities:

•     Work closely with the VFX Supervisor, VFX Producer, and lead CG artists.

Creative Technologist

The Creative Technologist will play a key role in the Mill's strategic expansion into the experiential digital marketplace. Additionally, this role will engage with key counterparts in Mill London, sharing plans for growth and project development across the group.

 

Skills and Competencies:

·         Ability to present complex, technical information to non-technical people

FX Technical Director

The Mill NY is currently seeking an experienced and talented FX Technical Director to work with the CG team. The role requires someone able to work autonomously in a fast paced environment to deliver an extremely high level of work. This individual will be comfortable working with clients and have a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills and technical knowledge and have relevant experience in a commercial, film or TV environment

The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years experience in post-production doing FX (particles, smoke, fluids, and hair), with a strong knowledge of Maya and Houdini, Python, MEL, Linux.  Additionally, successful candidates will have a good understanding of Nuke and Flame.  XSI knowledge is definitely a plus.

Additional Requirements:

·         Strong interpersonal skills are mandatory, and it's essential that you are able to work both on front-end and back-end development.

·         Must have the ability to work in a cooperative team environment, as well as work independently.

·         Must demonstrate a commitment to high quality work, and maintain strong analytical skills.

·         A degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred, but not required.

Senior Print Producer

The Mill NY is looking for a Senior Print Producer to manage our relationship and business with some of our largest clients for their print campaigns.  The role requires heavy project management skills as well as excellent communication skills as you will act as the primary liaison between the client, our organization and several agencies. The assignments will involve CG created still imagery that is retouched in Photoshop.  It may also include straightforward Cinema 4D animation.

The Sr. Print Producer will effectively manage the client relationship on a daily basis and ensure the highest standard of work is produced at all times. The Sr. Print Producer, in conjunction with all the operators working on the job, must ensure the standard of creative excellence is maintained whilst keeping the job on budget and within time and resources.  This requires one to have an acute sense for visual aesthetics and ideas and the ability to manage people and resources effectively.  Excellent client and communication skills are therefore essential.

Responsibilities
·         Serve as the main client interface on projects, helping define vision, clarifying  strategic requirements, explaining complex ideas clearly, and managing expectations.
·         Define the scope of projects (goals, deliverables, schedule, and budget) and prepare project documentation including plans, statements of work, functional specs, status reports, etc.
·         Oversee the print production schedule ensuring timely delivery of each project piece and adhering to client standards.
·         Communicate  project status, issues and resolution to the client and internal team
·         Manage interdisciplinary teams of artist, designers, production staff, and engineers helping to evolve creative concepts into clear sets of deliverables in order to balance client requirements and company ability.
·         Concept with creative department to engineer innovative custom print pieces, manage financials, specifications, color management, and retouching.
·         Monitor the team's performance and maximize their creative potential.

Requirements
5+ years print production experience.
·         A proven track record of managing cross discipline teams, vendors, and clients.
·         Excellent project planning and scoping skills.
·         Experience supervising retouching and with Maya CG pipelines.
·         Experience with Cinema 4D is helpful but not necessary.

We are able to offer a select few talented individuals a two-month internship programme to gain invaluable experience working in our world-class digital media and visual effects environment prior to the completion of a degree course. The programme is available in London, New York and Los Angeles on presentation of a valid work permit or visa.

For a place on the programme you must be entering your final year of study at college or university in one of the following fields:

  • 3D & Animation
  • Compositing, Roto-scoping, Matte Painting, etc.
  • Digital Interactive
  • Design and Illustration
  • Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry

Our internships run each year during the months of June and July, and encompass Design, Digital Interactive, Animation, 2D, 3D, Colour Grading and Production. If successful, you will be assigned a mentor who will provide support, guidance and training and you will be given the opportunity to work on fast-paced, creatively challenging projects across all media.
