After DJing around West London since 2009, Rum & Tings was born out of a love of all things that are right about molasses and music

Rum & Tings is purely based on mixing old and new styles to create an eclectic sound that makes you want to get up and get low. Using old school hip hop and reggae as their basis as well as reliving some older soul, disco and more underground vibes, the night prides itself on being the every man’s party. Annie & Conrad are never afraid to throw out some carnival anthems or some RnB classics; and why shouldn’t they; if it works it works…

How did you and Conrad meet?

Annie: I actually spilt a shot on his decks whilst he was DJing and then proceeded to tell him repeatedly ‘It’s OK – I’m a DJ too!’ I was the idiot all DJ’s love to hate.

Who influences you and your musical style?

A: We take influence from lots of people, from Q-Tip to Stevie Wonder to Chaka Kahn .  A DJ’s music should always be party-dependant.

What has been the highlight of your DJing career so far

A: Chilling out with Shy FX on his birthday. Warming up for some really cool DJs such as DJ Chunky (Sunship), Mr Thing and Kutmah

What are you hopes for the future of Rum & Tings?

A: More rum. More Rihanna. And to continue having a f*$%ing good time

What does Rum & Tings mean to you?

A: Rum & Tings is a mixture of two very important things. The first, is DJs who love music and the second is people who love a good time. Without either one of those things it wouldn’t work. You’d just have Conrad… playing to his mum.
