Last week The Mill took the Siggraph 2017 Conference in Los Angeles by storm, taking home the top prize during the annual Real-Time Live presentation alongside Epic Games for their work on The Human Race, as well as featuring in the Computer Animation Festival, VR Village and a range of panels and demos.

Siggraph has been the leading conference on CG and VFX for over 40 years, providing a world-class platform for introducing new innovations in the world of advancing technologies in post-production. As a featured winner the Computer Animation Festival in the VFX for Advertising category, The Human Race marks the first film ever in Siggraph's Computer Animation Festival history to be rendered and projected in real-time from a workstation at the event itself. In Siggraph's own words, “It was a milestone for this qualifying festival for the Academy of Motion Picture and Sciences.“

The Mill also led in presence—Showcasing a portfolio of works including; Strata: A Biometric VR experience, which was stationed at the conference’s VR Village and led by Mill Senior Creative Developer Mike Manh. Mill Group CG Director, Vince Baertsoen also spoke to the CG World Student Session Panel and Mill 3D Artist, Paul Liaw presented Digital Cloth at the Marvelous Booth.
The Mill Blackbird stole the show, exhibiting in the main hall of the LA Convention Center along with The Mill’s real-time car configurator, allowing users to configure their own version of The Human Race.
