The Mill worked alongside Weilands and director Paul Weiland out of Contagious London to bring inanimate objects to life in an advert for recently launched online estate agent YOPA, ‘New Kids on the Block.’
The spot animates traditional ‘For Sale’ signs, giving them an air of defeatism as the YOPA signs stand proud, boasting exceptionally low commission rates. Realising their future is bleak with the arrival of this new competitor; the older signs are entirely dejected and launch themselves one by one into a whirring wood chipper.
Lead 3D Artist Elizabeth Mitchell recalls: ‘Paul was a great director to work with in order to bring life to these old, unwanted ‘For Sale’ signs. The animators did a fantastic job at creating characters and adding emotion to such a simple model. It was a fine balance between making the signposts look physically accurate and pushing the animation to add comedic effect.”
