Artists at The Mill collaborated with Director Dave Laden of
Hungry Man to create a campaign for Google Duo, using 2D animation and a
hand-drawn style to bring out the personalities of 10 unique, lovable characters.
The Mill’s Animation Director, Lisha Tan, led the VFX &
Design team in creating a total of five spots. To help differentiate each
character, it was all in the small details. The campaign relied on simplistic looks
to capture the fun and sincere elements of the pieces. The Mill’s Colour team also
emphasized soft tones to maintain naturalness throughout.
Lisha says, “For ‘Socks’, one of the characters was
portrayed as a bit dopey. This really drew out the personalities in the spot
and made the animation exciting to create.”
