Continuing this year's festive collaboration with adam&eveDDB and John Lewis, The Mill helped to create this series of product films directed by Matthias Hoene at Partizan, which feature a fully CG 'Moz the Monster', adapted from the original 'Monster Under the Bed' spot.
The films feature products from Dyson, Nespresso, PS4 + VR, Anki, Microsoft Surface and Bose. Each spot sees 'Moz' playfully interacting with the products on show.
The Mill's VFX team crafted 'Moz' in full CG and carefully adapted his sense of character and level of interaction to match each new scenario he finds himself in.
Lead 2D Lead Artist Gianluca Di Marco explains, ‘It was really fun working on the product films for John Lewis. We see Moz depicted in full CG and this gave us the opportunity to play more with his personality and explore his inquisitive and playful nature.
In order to have Moz looking like the one in the main film, we used the puppet of Moz to get a reference for the colour of the fur and the skin, this helped a lot during the process of lighting and compositing.
Combining the live action product shoot with the photoreal rendering of Moz was a great extension of the main TV spot and a fantastic way for Moz to reach a greater audience.’
