The Mill partnered with GIFT UK, Gastroparesis and Intestinal Failure Trust, a charity group that provides patient support and fundraising for research, to create this raw and inspiring spot in order to raise awareness about the incurable condition.
The video shows real patients as they depict some of the common misconceptions or responses about Gastroparesis & Intestinal Failure and hopes to highlight its seriousness.
On the inception and experience of the project, Mill+ Director Aidan Gibbons explains ‘we jumped at the opportunity to work with GIFT UK to film and document the heartbreaking stories of 11 Gastroparesis patients.
Gastroparesis is an incurable and largely unrecognised condition affecting thousands of women, men and children in the UK alone.
The condition results in patients not being able to eat food ever again. We set out to create a whole series of films highlighting what the condition is, how it affects these patients and how you can help.
It was a hugely collaborative shoot – filming inside The Mill, we were overcome with volunteers to help shoot, produce, compose, post, animate, mix and grade it, we were turning people away!'
Ultimately GIFT UK need donations. It will allow them to grow as a charity, helping thousands of others through this horrific condition. To donate, text MBED06 and your amount to 70070 or visit https://www.giftuksupport.org/
