Creating Samsung's new website for 3D SmartTV for Digitas, marked a perfect convergence of The Mill NY's digital interactive, VFX and design divisions.
Bridget Sheils, our Executive Producer, Digital Interactive,
explains the synergy needed to create www.thesmartlivingroom.com:
"Chris McKenzie, our UX Lead, led the development of the user flow
and site architecture. Our Design Director, Jeff Stevens, and Art
Director, Bowe King, led a team of designers on the creation of
eight genre room scenes, and the look and feel of the user
interface. Our CG team, led by Ruben Vandebroek, collaborated with
the design team to create efficiencies in the development process
and also to help realize the designers' vision."
The agency creatives knew they wanted the Samsung Smart 3D TV to
impact a living room in vivid detail, Sheils says, and have content
tie-in to the Hunch genre/title recommendation engine. The Mill
team designed and executed eight entertainment genres: Action,
Crime/Mystery, Sports, Kids & Family, Horror, Sci-fi, Romance
and Comedy.
Sheils adds, "Because the site is localized for global
distribution, we designed it to promote ease for affiliates to
populate elements and content areas in their native languages,
ensuring continuity. We worked iteratively on the look and feel,
often passing design sketches back and forth between the agency
creative team and ours."
