The Mill Celebrates Three Film & Series Collaborations Selected at Biarritz Film Festival 2026

From June 23 to 28, the fourth edition of the Biarritz Film Festival – Nouvelles Vagues will once again spotlight emerging cinematic voices from around the world. Dedicated to younger generations and contemporary storytelling, the international festival has established itself as a unique platform for bold filmmaking and fresh creative perspectives.

This year, several projects supported by The Mill's Film & Series teams have been selected across the festival's official programme, highlighting the breadth of creative and technical expertise brought to ambitious auteur-driven productions.

La Chaleur Selected in the Feature Film Competition

Directed by Stéphane Demoustier and distributed by Memento, La Chaleur has been selected for the festival's Feature Film Competition ahead of its theatrical release on July 8, 2026.

The Mill's Film & Series teams, under the VFX supervision of Lise Fischer and VFX production led by Yann Nivet, crafted the film's visual effects with a grounded and cinematic approach. Designed to blend seamlessly into the storytelling, the work supports the narrative with subtlety and precision, allowing the emotional impact of the film to remain at the forefront.

Le Triangle d’orL’Âge d’or Presented in Special Screenings

Le Triangle d’or, directed by Hélène Rosselet-Ruiz, produced by Les Films de Pierre and distributed by Ad Vitam, will be presented as part of the festival's Special Screenings section before its theatrical release on July 29, 2026.

The film benefited from image post-production services delivered by the MPC Paris post-production teams, now part of TransPerfect Media, supporting the filmmakers in bringing their creative vision to the screen.

L'age D'or

Also featured in the Special Screenings programme, L’Âge d’or (The Golden Age) by Bérenger Thouin is a bold and singular feature film produced by GoGoGo Films. Recently presented in the Cannes Classics section of the Festival de Cannes, the film offers a remarkable visual experience that blends fiction with historical archive footage.

Led by Souheila Yacoub, the story follows Jeanne through the major upheavals of the twentieth century, from the Roaring Twenties and World War II to Brazil, in an epic narrative where past and present merge on screen.

One of the film's most distinctive achievements lies in the seamless integration of actors into archival footage sourced from Gaumont Pathé Archives, creating striking interactions between contemporary performances and historical imagery. The entire feature was shot in black and white before being fully colorized, ensuring visual consistency between newly filmed material and restored archive sequences.

The Mill's Film & Series teams in Paris supervised and delivered 60 visual effects shots under the direction of VFX Supervisor Hugues Namur and VFX Producer Loriane Lucas. The post-production teams also hosted colorists Laurent Ripoll and Julian Nouveau, who played a key role in defining the film's visual identity and supporting the extensive image harmonization process.

The project stands as a powerful example of the meeting point between technological innovation, image craftsmanship and cinematic ambition.

As Biarritz Film Festival – Nouvelles Vagues continues to champion a new generation of filmmakers, The Mill is proud to support storytellers whose work pushes creative boundaries and explores new ways of bringing cinematic visions to life.
