César Award for Best Visual Effects
Our team has received this distinction five times since the award was created. The teams now operating as The Mill Film & Series have received this distinction five times since the award was created.
2026 – L’Inconnu de la Grande Arche
The film stands out as a powerful work at the crossroads of political storytelling and intimate chronicle. To bring this little-known story to the screen, more than 100 VFX shots were created by the teams now operating as The Mill Film & Series under the supervision of Lise Fischer. The entire post-production image process was also completed at our Paris Hauteville studios.
An ambitious project driven by a commitment to historical accuracy and visual precision.

2025 – Emilia Pérez
More than 350 composited shots including virtual environments, digital urban sets and image finishing for a shoot carried out primarily against blue screen.
Digital Environments Supervisor Christophe Courgeau explains that extensive testing and iterations were needed to strike the right balance between realism and stylization. The virtual environments, designed to evoke an imagined version of Mexico, include fully CG creations such as Emilia’s house, the prison, and entire landscapes
2024 – Le Règne Animal
Hybrid creatures combining practical and digital work across more than 150 shots. Nearly ten months of VFX production alongside the film’s team. A team of around 100 artists and technicians worked on the project for just over ten months
2023 – Notre-Dame Brûle
Digital reconstruction of the fire, smoke and particle simulations, interior and exterior set extensions, and more than 350 delivered shots.
“The collaboration on this film was fantastic! Lise Fischer, Hugues Namur and their team, now part of The Mill Film & Series, and Pierre Jury and his team at THE YARD did an incredible job and it was a real pleasure to work with them. We had regular discussions about how to shoot and how to respect the director’s vision. Everything went very well.”
2022 – Annette
More than 160 VFX shots including sea sequences, a fully CG stadium environment, complex integrations and invisible retouching.
“Spectacular and mysterious” – these were the words of Leos Carax during our visual effects production in Liège. The collaboration between the director and our teams began before filming in order to prepare the film’s key sets, notably the dramatic boat scene."
César Award for Best Visual Effects – Nominations
Before winning the trophy, a nomination already represents meaningful recognition from our peers. We value supporting ambitious projects alongside leading directors and studios just as much as the victory itself. Among our recent nominations for the César Award for Best Visual Effects are: Illusions Perdues (2022, reconstruction of 19th century Parisian sets, 175 VFX shots), Aline (2022, digital retouching, crowd work, face and body enhancements), Fumer fait tousser (2023), La Montagne (2024), and La Bête (2025).
César & Techniques
Also presented by the Academy, the César & Techniques awards highlight companies contributing to the development of the industry and its technological innovation. The teams now operating as The Mill Film & Series, as well as Mikros Image, have been honored several times:
2025 – Innovation Award, César & Techniques, awarded to MPC Paris for Meshroom, our in-house photogrammetry technology.
2023 – César & Techniques Trophy, MPC Paris.
2018 – César & Techniques Trophy, Mikros Image Technicolor.
2013 – César & Techniques Trophy, Mikros Image.
2012 – César & Techniques Trophy, Mikros Image.
The continuity of expertise
These distinctions are a source of pride for our teams. They frame a shared journey marked by new names and new ambitions, while the same talent and passion for image-making remain at its core. Whether it involves so-called invisible VFX, digital creatures, virtual environments or technological innovation, The Mill Film & Series will continue to support filmmakers and producers in showcasing and elevating French creative excellence.
