Tell us a little bit about yourself, what is your role?

I have been part of Beam TV family for about 5 years now as a Business Affairs Executive. Before entering parenthood, 11 years ago, I worked Agency side as a TV Producer. I have two wonderful boys, Freddie and Seb, who are 11 and 9. Although I fear for my husband who has to look after them while I’m away.

What inspired you to take on the Fireflies tour?

I’ve known about the Fireflies Tour for as long as I’ve been in the industry, and I first contacted Laine in 2011 about joining in. I’ve been road cycling for quite a few years, it’s something I have a real passion for. So what better way to help raise money for a great cause (Blood Cancer UK) by jumping on my bike and riding some of the most challenging, and famous mountain routes in the world.

What training have you been doing to prepare yourself for the trip?

I’ve been cycling regularly with a cycling club over the years, but only generally when I can fit it in maybe once or twice a week. So over the last few months I’ve really had to up my training – whether it’s more regular sessions on the Wattbike at home, or longer rides out on the roads at the weekends, or a few additional circuits of Box hill in Surrey.

What do you foresee as the most challenging aspect of journey?

The mountains…and hopefully not the weather.

The route takes you through some incredible terrain, what are you most looking forward to seeing?

Even though the mountains are going to be the most challenging they are also the part I am most looking forward to. If I had to name a particular mountain pass then Col du Galibier….I am as excited as I am nervous….
