We spoke to Mill Designer Dom Han about how Korean folk tales inspired his latest AR filter and how he has taken his designs into the physical realm via art toys.

 

Talk us through your latest submission to the Design Weekender?

The AR filter I submitted into the ‘Design Weekender’s December Edition’ is called “Haetae”. Haetae is an oriental mythical creature that has been featured in many traditional Korean folk tales. I wanted to embrace Korean culture into my style and make it into an AR filter. Hopefully, allowing users to experience and enjoy my cultural interpretation.

Are you working on any passion projects at the moment?
I am very interested in making art toys at the moment, I particularly enjoy making toys that audiences can relate to by incorporating elements of the world that I see and hear. In addition, it’s also a great pleasure to be able to feel 3D design not only in the digital world but also in real life. That is the charm of art toy design.
