Mill Paris | Mill creative collaboration ‘Sumo’ nominated by the Annecy International Animation Festival

News March 31, 2022

For more than 60 years, the Annecy Festival has established itself as the world’s leading event dedicated to animation, bringing together the industry’s leading professionals and celebrating the creativity and diversity of animation styles and techniques.

As every year, several films are selected and this year our work on ‘Sumo’ for France Télévisions has been shortlisted. ‘Sumo’ was directed and produced out of our Parisian Studio in close collaboration with MullenLowe France for the 2020 Olympic Games in Japan.

The jury was influenced by its traditional 2D animation style and a graphic universe marked by Japanese culture. The spot took inspirations from the Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai and his iconic painting ‘The Great Wave Off Kanagawa’.
