Muse By Clio | Canal+ ‘The Bear.’ The French Ad That Conquered the World

Press July 7, 2022

In 2011, Canal + teamed up with BETC agency to create a film reminding us of the channel’s permanent commitment: to transmit the passion of cinema to its subscribers. Directed by Matthjis van Heijningen and produced by Soixan7e Quin5e, the film follows the routine a bear rug who becomes director. Our talents from The Mill Paris (Mikros in 2011) created a photo-realistic bear, which they integrated into the filmed sequences.

The bear had won many awards in all categories and especially the VFX and Animation category! It won the Film Craft Grand Prize and a Gold at the Cannes Lions, 2 Golds at the LIA, 1 at the D&AD, 1 Silver at the Clio Awards and at the VES Awards! Created in France for a French brand, the advert made the rounds of the media around the world and was even voted “best ad of the year 2011”.

“We knew from the start we had a good project in our hands, excellent references to create high-end digital bear rug character. I’ve no intention to brag about it but I’m particularly proud of is the bear’s acting : you can trully relate to him while he’s speaking, his emotions do transpire. ”
