Tik Tok | Shooting Live Action for Africa Cup of Nations

Work January 25, 2022

Tik Tok wanted to promote their sponsorship of the AFCON (Africa Cup of Nations) football tournament through a 30-second video to be played out across key African countries. In an end-to-end production, The Mill/MPC Creative came up with a video that showcases a balanced view of the African nations, with fans representing their countries.

With the impact of Omicron heavily affecting this shoot, our teams had to come up with a production solution taking place in Cape Town. From casting callbacks, to recces to wardrobe fittings, the entire shoot became a remote operation.

“Due to the spread of Omicron, flights were cancelled and South Africa was put on the red list 48 hours before the The Mill/MPC Creative teams were scheduled to depart London. The MPC Creative team needed to pivot quickly and moved the entire pre-production and 3 day shoot to a fully remote production. Pre-production suddenly became a series of early morning zooms to South Africa to remotely attend the director’s recce, the tech recce, casting callbacks & wardrobe fittings. The transition was seamless and our teams, along with our client and agency, remote attended the 3 day shoot from the comfort of the The Mill/MPC offices in London”
