Throughout 2019, Respawn Entertainment has continued to surprise and delight players with Apex Legends™, a free-to-play battle royale game featuring a cast of unique characters, squad-based gameplay, innovative mechanics and more set in the Titanfall™ universe. We worked closely with Respawn to developed new ways to share the story of the game and its world in new ways to players. After three trailers and one extensive game cinematic racked up over 50 million views, Respawn and The Mill set out to attempt something unprecedented; to bring the beloved character, Mirage, to life in an unimaginable way; on stage, live and ‘in person’ at The Game Awards.

The Game Awards took place at the Microsoft Theater on Thursday 12th December 2019 and was broadcast live on YouTube, among other channels. The highly anticipated annual awards ceremony honors achievements in the video game industry.

Meet Violet: a virtual streamer who wants to bring the world a game channel experience like no other. She’s not an AI or sentient robot, she’s a digital persona – a real person disguised by a digital augmented reality avatar. Violet likes to think of herself as a ‘digital Banksy’, having chosen to protect her identity in a world that thrives off sharing personal details and information on social media. She’s a girl gamer, powered by gaming technology!

HBO approached us to develop a virtual activation that celebrated the launch of their hotly anticipated new tentpole series Lovecraft Country and had the ability to transport fans into the Lovecraft Country world, whilst in global isolation. A Social VR Experience like no other. Lovecraft Country: Sanctum is a three-part immersive journey to another dimension. “Travelers” visiting the Sanctum Dimension experienced three different events that are a complement to Lovecraft Country’s themes of socially relevant storytelling and cosmic horror, featuring original content performed by the cast from the series.
