D&AD’s 50th Anniversary Awards marks the most iconic companies the world’s creative community. The Mill is the only VFX studio named as the ‘Most Awarded Production Company’.

The Mill Opens in New York

Mill Film wins Academy Award
Mill Film wins the Academy Award for Best Achievement in Visual Effects for Ridleys Scott 'Gladiator'.

Mini-Mill's Launch
The Mill launches Mini-Mill, a small slice of Mill quality (talent, kit and workflow) inside advertising agencies.
2000
The Mill & Harry Potter
We build all models for the first two films in the 'Harry Potter' series, including Hogwarts, and shoot all motion-control elements.
1998
Mill Film is Launched
Mill Film is launched with Sir Ridley Scott and Tony Scott. Projects include, Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, Tomb Raider, Enemy of the State and the first two Harry Potter films.
1997
The Mill At Shepperton
The Mill’s Motion Control division runs two mobile motion control rigs at the W Stage of Shepperton Studios. The first VFX studio to replicate MoCo camera moves directly into CG.
1996
The Mill Opens
The Mill opens its doors for the first time in London's Soho and is the world's first fully digital end-to-end VFX studio.
