The Mill has collaborated once again with 'The Entrance' team of Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam and director Fredrik Bond to create VFX on 'The Date' - the eagerly-awaited follow up film from its global 'Open Your World' campaign for Heineken®. We are also pleased to introduce the hilarious 'Legendary Making of the Date', which premiered on Heineken's YouTube channel and Facebook page.
Shot on location in London, this beautifully crafted high energy

on an epic journey - a glamorous tribute to all magical dates and
The Mill team worked closely with the team at W+K Amsterdam to
create the seamless VFX and the shoot was pre-visualised to help
director Fredrik Bond plan the ever-moving camera. Both the
TVC and Making Of were shot at the same time which kept our shoot
supervisors, Jay Bandlish and David Lawson busy.
Our key challenges included the eels which were shot on set as
reference and then modelled, rigged and animated by the 3D
team. Lead 2D artist Jay also worked with W+K and Fredrik to
composite, clean-up and enhance the environment before Adam Scott
applied a careful grade to ensure Heineken's distinctive look was
achieved. Finally, we did some global adaptation work creating two
types of bottles and pints accomplished with 2D comping and
"This was a great opportunity to continue working with W+K and
Fredrik on this tremendously successful campaign," said VFX
Producer Paul Schleicher. "As well as the main commercial, we
worked on the Making Of
and music video. The work our 3D team did looks amazing - it was a
truly legendary project!"
